Deep Sea Fishing in Costa Maya is considered some of the best to be found anywhere in the West Coast of Mexico. The Town of Mahahual was an important fishing village established by the early Maya Empire which connected the entire Costa Maya, Belize and Guatemala region.

This sleepy beach town comes alive with activity as cruise ships drop off tourists for the day and, like actors, shop and restaurant owners spring to action, opening up shop and encouraging visitors to stop by along Avenida Majahaul, the main drag -- just about the only street you need to visit -- with shops, restaurants, and hotels across the street from the sandy beach. And the beach! Thanks to the Majahual Reef, the waters here are calm and crystal clear. When the cruisers have left for the day there's almost nobody around the beach and you can enjoy it all by yourself, under an enormous night sky -- with no lights and no noise from town.
